Located some 40 km north of the capital Denpasar lies the small village of Nungnung. Bali's capital, Denpasar, offers visitors many tourist attractions, among them Puputal Square and Palangan Puputan Badung Park, which are open 24 hours a day and free to visit. The Park with its commemorative monument also offers sports enthusiasts a jogging track and fitness areas. It is in West Denpasar at Dauh Puri Kangin. The huge monument that is the local landmark commemorates the heroic, if suicidal stand the rulers of Badung Regency made against the Dutch in 1906, when Dutch guns mowed down local families defending their homes against the invaders with little more than swords.

The provincial state museum, Museum Negeri Propinsi Bali, in Denpasar opens daily from 8.00 am to 3.30 pm, except on Fridays, when the museum closes at 1.00 pm. Designed to display the art and heritage of the island, the museum is located in Kota Denpasar at Jl. Mayor Wisnu No.1, Dangin Puri, Denpasar Tim. The collection is displayed in several buildings that opened to the public in 1931. Exhibits include prehistoric finds, textiles and ceremonial artifacts from several centuries ago.
